The Goal

01

Vector Core was a company initiative to target lower level elite teams with less resources but a desire to collect relevant data for their athletes for both performance and health purposes that is comparable to elite levels. To accomplish this my team was tasked with improving an already existing mobile app that allowed users to collect positional data via GPS and Bluetooth and then download those files to the web via a smart dock.

The Process

As this app already existed, the discovery work was focusing on what worked and what didn’t within that app. This included both UX workflows and app performance.

From there, new designs were created using Figma. Since a previous version of the app was already in use, I focused primarily on the new features such as period management and using a new Catapult specific mobile design system.

Below are screenshots of the final released app. It uses an updated design system that matches the web products sold with this product suite. Performance using wearable devices and Bluetooth was improved in the backend and since the release in June 2023 has gained a wide following around the world for elite teams.

The left photo is the old app information architecture and the right is the new app with the new intended workflow for the Vector Core target user. This allowed myself and the UX designer to start identifying user requirements and areas we could remove from the app itself.
